OMG it was me who recommended Cherry Baby! I feel so special that you actually followed through with the recommendation (I LOVE recommending books and when people actually read them, it makes me so happy!) I’m glad it sounds you like you enjoyed(?) it for the most part, although I do understand why your thoughts around it are somewhat scattered. I feel like the interpretation of the book’s portrayal around weight/weight loss/etc is deeply personal to each reader. Either way, I’m so happy you read it! :)
This is weird because I don’t “know” you, but another book I think you would enjoy is Like Family by Erin O’White. I may have even recommended it in your comments section before, I can’t remember. It’s about three families in upstate New York—my favorite family, Ruth and her wife Wyn, live on a farm that sounded absolutely magical.
Also, I recently filled out a survey Leslie Stephens made for feedback about her Substack and one of the questions asked you to list 2 other Substack newsletters you really enjoy—I wrote yours as one of my answers :)
aw, haley! i'm so honored, on both fronts! and i will def add "like family" to my libby list! thank you for the rec--i did enjoy cherry baby very much.
Ok this newsletter is making me want to try my hand at dill cheddar scones! I have a thriving dill plant that is just begging to be used! Also love the bright pop of red of your birks and that suit - so good!
I always enjoy your book and podcast recs. I’m not a huge podcast listener and I think part of the reason is that I get too overwhelmed by all of the choices out there. So your recs always come in handy.
I’m currently reading The Five Star Weekend and have not watched the show yet. When I saw it advertised I decided to read the book first and then watch the show. Almost finished and can’t wait to dive into the show. 💕
You know, I've been thinking about those youths drinking amidst the smoke, and when you figure that their entire existence has been in "unprecedented. times," I wonder if this is just one more unprecedented thing and they're so immune to it, they just carry on, business as usual.
As for me, I walk outside and think "is the neighbor having a bonfire?! It's 7am!" Haha.

Loved the photo diary and the links about fitness habits and European attitudes towards a body being just a body. Have a great week!
